Two Months

Elsa turned two months old yesterday, and she had her two-month check-up today. She is now 12 pounds 12 ounces and 23.25 inches long, which makes her ... pretty darn big. She is in the 80th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. Her head is 40.5 centimeters, which is the 78th percentile (the giant head that my OB promised finally makes its appearance!).

Overall, she's doing very well—in fact, the doctor seemed amazed at how good she is at holding up her head (strong necks must run on both sides of Elsa's family, since both Carter and Karina seemed to have that too). The doctor pointed out that Elsa was tracking me with her eyes very well during the exam (hopefully that means she won't end up as blind as I was pre-Lasik), and she has some bumps on her gums that are apparently the very first signs of teething. The doctor thinks those teeth will be poking through well before Elsa is 6 months old!

The only area of concern is a fairly severe flat spot on the back of Elsa's head, which is due to her tendency to always turn her head to the right. To correct this, we're supposed to hold her in the other arm when feeding her, have her lay in the other direction in her crib, etc. If we don't see any improvement in 4 weeks, she may need physical therapy, but the doctor didn't think that would really be necessary. Hopefully it won't come to that, since the only thing worse than a giant head is a giant misshapen head. (Just kidding, of course—we all know she's adorable, giant head and all!)
