Elsa was so happy to be starting her third year at Audubon! She was so excited about the first day of school and was counting down the days. And since she is doing the same 4K class and same afternoon schedule as last year, I think we both felt like we were just picking right back up where we left off last May. Here she is before we left for the first day.
Claire, on the other hand, seems to have suddenly realized that she's missing out on something. She had a screaming fit when we left the classroom after dropping off Elsa. We've been in and out of that school almost daily since Claire was four months old, and she has never acted like this before. But now, when we walk into the classroom, she spots the playdough or the crafts that are set up on the tables and goes right over and sits down, ready to participate, with all the other kids. Poor Claire, I just keep telling her she has to wait until next year. That must sound like a million years to her!Despite her screaming fits, it was actually kind of funny, because all the teachers are used to crying because kids don't want to be left there. With Claire, it's the opposite problem. At least I can be confident that she'll be excited about her own first day of school when it finally gets here. And today's drop-off went much more smoothly—no crying until we got home and I told her it was time for nap. : ) And she did also tell me in the car that she misses Elsa. Things like that just warm my heart.
