On Saturday we got Elsa dressed up in her Halloween costume and took her downtown to the Betty Brinn Children's Museum, which was having a special Halloween celebration. Elsa was a pink-and-yellow bumble bee, complete with a stinger on her butt.

She looked adorable, of course, and she even learned how to say "Buzz"!
Most of the museum exhibits were designed for kids a little older than Elsa, but she still seemed to enjoy herself, especially in the golf ball area. This is an area where kids can run golf balls along tracks, through spirals and loops, etc. While Bob and I did question the wisdom of letting a bunch of young kids run wild with dozens of loose golf balls, I didn't see a single person get pegged while we were there, and it was clearly Elsa's favorite area. Best of all, we found one of these strange "golf carts" shown below, and Elsa surprised us both by using it as a walker to toddle all over the room, all by herself!

She was amazingly good with it—she didn't fall once and she even managed a corner. This was surprising because, although she has a walker at home, she has never once used it in that way. When I've tried to get her to use it that way, she hated it. (It's definitely not a very stable walker, and it doesn't give her much room to move, so I think she probably needs a different kind.)

Here are a few more pictures from the museum. After the museum we went to Grandma and Grandpa Heinrich's so they could see Elsa in her costume, and then we went out to dinner (Elsa changed her clothes for that part).

Sunday evening was Mequon's trick-or-treating, so Elsa went for the very first time. We just went to each of our next-door neighbors—here we are heading up to the door at neighbor Bonnie's house:

Elsa was a bit shy at both stops. But in addition to getting some candy, we also got to meet our brand-new next-door neighbor Annabella, who was born Oct. 12. I'm sure Elsa and Annabella will enjoy playing together in the very near future!
Elsa's haul amounted to two packages of Smarties and some Starburst (which, of course, will most likely be eaten by Mommy). Here's Elsa, getting the idea about the most important aspect of trick-or-treating. She was not too happy when I had to take away her loot.

Happy Halloween!

Elsa is so adorable in that outfit! It seems like walking around with that golf cart thing would have been extra cumbersome in that outfit so she must really be getting the hang of it! I love the little stinger on her butt!!
Love,
Aunt Ellen
We keep quoting our favorite little Bumble Bee (so cute!) by saying "whoa" to all sorts of things. It sure looks like all the Heinrichs had a fun Halloween.
Love and "ickles", Grandma Phyllis and Grandpa Bob
