Elsa was much braver about the rides this year. I was proud of her. We went down the giant slide together and she loved it so much, she wanted to do it again! That's a big change from two years ago (I think?) when we went down the junior-size slide and she was horrified even by that.
She also went on the swings, this Superman-style ride, and much more. Yes, after much convincing and cajoling, my child is finally daring enough to try out carny rides. So: Yay? : )
But the ferris wheel is still Elsa's old-school favorite.
Claire loved it too.
Claire also continued her Disney trend of enjoying anything that spins in a tame way.
As per usual, the girls were forcibly required to enjoy other aspects of the State Fair besides the rides. Such as cows.
Well. I guess there wasn't too much coercion involved when it came to this funnel cake.
After a very long day of walking around the State Fair, we arrived back at our car to the delightful realization that we were parked in. The 20-something girls who were managing the parking at that particular house thought they left Bob enough space to back out, but they were wrong. Tom and Tanya were nice enough to come pick up Elsa for a pre-planned sleepover with Karina, but that still left Bob, Claire and I with several hours to kill while we waited for the owner of the car behind us to return. Here is Bob and Claire enjoying a comfy seat in a nearby parking lot.
We eventually called Bob's parents and went out to dinner with them. By the time the dinner was done, our car was free. So it ended up not being too bad of a delay .... but we probably won't be parking there again next year.
