Advent Activities

We're doing our Advent Calendar activities again this year, and once again, it's been a big hit. Even Claire can participate (kind of) this year.

Here's Elsa's letter to Santa (as dictated to me—click to enlarge and read the whole thing). It's cute, but with a fair amount of randomness. : ) This girl has so many toys, she is now making up things to ask for as presents. I asked her where she has seen this "little store" that she keeps talking about, and she told me she hadn't seen it anywhere ... she just thought it up. I said, "Well, you have to choose from things that are available for purchase." She confidently responded, "Santa will bring it." Um ... sure.

Here's a close-up of the drawing she added to the letter. That's Santa, driving his sleigh, with a big bag of toys in the back, and that's Rudolph in front, with his nose casting a red glow. : )

Other advent activities so far have included going to the tree farm to get our tree, decorating it, shopping for toys for foster kids that we "adopted" for Christmas, watching the Charlie Brown Christmas special, and driving down to Candy Cane Lane to look at the Christmas lights. Claire especially loved the lights this year—lots of "wow"s and "whoa"s out of her as we drove past the displays!
