Elsa and I met Karina and Tanya at the Brookfield public pool the other day, and Elsa absolutely loved it. I think it might be her new favorite place, superceding even the playground. (It helps that there is a playground
at the pool—two for the price of one.)

Brookfield is a bit of a drive for us, but their pool is fantastic for toddlers, so it was worth the trip. They have a zero-depth area with fountains, a sand area, and even a tiny toddler-sized water slide. Of course Elsa gravitated straight to the slide, the moment we set foot in the pool area. Unfortunately, since it's a water slide, it was much more slippery than the playground slides that she's used to. I tried to explain this to her, but she still wasn't expecting it, so her butt flew out from under her on the way down, and she wasn't too happy about that. But she surprised me with her bravery, heading back to the slide just a few minutes later. She was more prepared the second time down, staying in a sitting position, and she proceeded to go back to the slide many more times during the course of the morning.

She also got right down onto her stomach in the water and tried to swim, and she waded in up to her waist, getting as close as possible to the big fountains in the center of the pool. Clearly her swimming lessons are paying off, since she seems very comfortable in the water.

And of course, at least half of our time at the pool was actually spent on the adjoining playground. Oh well, as long as they enjoy themselves ...

We finished off the morning with a picnic in the park with Karina and Tanya.
