The Latest

It really is amazing what a baby can learn to do in just a week or even a few days. Here are Elsa's latest accomplishments:

Crawling: Elsa has gained some serious speed with her crawling, and as a result she's now all over the place and into everything. It amazes me how, no matter what toys I put out for her, she always manages to gravitate to the items in the room that are not hers. She particularly enjoys the basket of scrap paper I keep under my desk and the Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware catalogs on the bottom shelf of the end table. She also loves to open and shut doors, and has recently discovered the full-length mirror on the back of my office door.

Eating: Elsa's biggest advances recently have been in this area. All of a sudden, after months of refusing to even try it, she has started feeding herself instead of Belle (well, more like herself as well as Belle). In fact, she became amazingly proficient at it within just 2 or 3 days. So, she can now feed herself pretty much any finger food, including puffs, crackers, Cheerios, small diced fruits and veggies, cheese, etc. It's given me the confidence to have her try more table foods and begin the transition from baby food to the "real stuff."

Talking: Elsa now regularly calls Bob "Da Da," or sometimes even "Daddy." She also seems to call dogs "dah dah" or "daw daw" (the difference between "dog" and "Da Da" might not be readily apparent to the unpracticed ear, but you'll have to take my word for it). Also, just this morning, she pointed at me and said with a big smile on her face, "Ma Ma!" It melted my heart to hear it!
