I was putting Elsa to bed the other night after a particularly trying day with Claire (lots of time-outs, lots of snatching of toys and not sharing, etc.). Here was my conversation with Elsa:
Me: Claire was kind of difficult to deal with today, wasn't she? But you were a really good girl, so thank you for that. And you have to understand that Claire is just doing normal 2-year-old things. This is how 2-year-olds are.
Elsa: Yeah, that's right. It's because they're just so curious. They like to be naughty, just to see what will happen.
Did a family member or another adult say something along those lines to Elsa recently? Because if not, that seems like a remarkably mature and astute observation for a not-quite-5-year-old. Especially one who never really displayed this kind of behavior when she herself was 2!
But that's my Elsa, proving once again that she's an old soul. : )

Elsa is such a wonderful little grown up. I wish more adults had her sense and maturity!
Love you guys, including the curious, wild 2 year old!

Elsa is so easy to love. Claire makes it just a little harder for us but we love her all the same. I can't remember saying anything like tha--but Elsa is watching you all the time, Lee, and when there is certain behavior she is probably waiting to see what will happen. So she extends that to Claire's thought process too.
Hang in there with the our Claire. Love, Mom
