Elsa's First Easter

There were no Easter baskets or egg hunts this year, but we had an enjoyable, busy Easter anyway. Elsa went to her very first Brewers game on Sunday.

It was a beautiful day for a ball game—35 degrees and cloudy. : ) Oh well, that's spring baseball in Milwaukee, might as well get her used to it early. Fortunately, they had the roof closed at Miller Park and it was surprisingly warm inside. We didn't even have to wear coats. We were playing the Cubs, and although the Cubs had won the first two games of the series, the Brewers took this one, 9 to 4. We saw a couple of home runs and an exciting run-scoring triple right down the first-base line, where we were sitting.

Elsa behaved very well throughout, in spite of the fact that the game was right during naptime. She slept on my lap for about 15 minutes, and spent the rest of the time gazing at the bright, flashing ribbon sign around the upper deck, or at the crowd around us. She also did occasionally look at what was going on down on the field—she seemed to understand that everybody was paying attention to something down there. Any time she started to fuss, a sure-fire way to quiet her down was to hold her so she could see behind us, over my shoulder. She seemed to love looking at all the faces behind us. That and reaching for somebody else's Mountain Dew bottle, which was in the cupholder behind my seat.

After the game we headed straight for Grandpa and Grandma Heinrich's for Easter dinner. Elsa didn't really sleep in the car on the way over, so I wasn't sure how long she'd last once we arrived, but she was a trooper, as usual. She played happily with Karina (well, really more next to Karina, but she seemed to enjoy it) and smiled at Opa (Grandpa) a number of times, even when she was starting to get crabby later in the evening. Karina gave her an adorable little kiss at one point and they traded toys very nicely.

Elsa also showed off her latest verbal skill for everyone: Shrieking at an incredibly loud and ear-splittingly high pitch. Everyone was surprised she didn't explode a few glasses or frighten away the dogs. She also demonstrated her very healthy appetite while I was feeding her, even doing her baby bird impression: She sits in the high chair with her mouth wide open at all times, just anxiously waiting for me to spoon in the next bite. Yep, she's quite the little eater, still no problems there! I guess she takes after her Mommy in that respect. : )

Hi to Elsa and everyone

We really loved seeing Elsa in her baseball cap and hearing how flexible she is when it comes to sporting events--a very valuable and admired quality.

We are so anxious to see her (and hear her) when she gets to Michigan next week. xxoo
